I took this last night, in New Lothrup, MI. Is that an old-timey sign or WHAT?! My father-in-law said that was Gracie's meat market building once upon a time. He remembers driving out to buy a side of beef on a regular basis.
Great dinner with lots of Bests to celebrate Dick & Shirley's anniversary and their birthdays.
You can even see Mark on his way to work! He had the truck, as there was snow in the forecast that day (a week ago). Red sky in morning, Sailors take warning!
Finally! Happy 2012! Hopefully I'll write many poems and blog posts this year. I'll try!
The first two images were taken in mid-December. The snow was a few inches and lasted a few days. Sigh. We had a lovely green Christmas, although we flew to Florida Christmas afternoon, so we also had tropical colors!
The third image was taken in January, right after we got back from Florida.
The final image was taken last weekend, after we once again got a bit of snow. Gone now!

My Rapunzel picture this week is my favorite so far, I do believe. I took it about 4:30 p.m. today with my iPhone. Our first day off Daylight Savings Time. I'm always happy this time of year: there's something about the days growing shorter that appeals to me, Cancer that I am. And I love it when the sky opens up. As I look just to my right, when I sit at my desk, I see out my kitchen window, and in the winter there's nothing but treetops and sky. The view is a poem waiting to be written.
The first picture of Rapunzel's tower with my new iPhone 4S. Wow. The pictures it takes are truly gorgeous. Crisp, with tons of detail. I can edit them right on the iPhone. Lovely. I took this picture late afternoon today. Look at the difference between now and the first picture, which was taken in August. I took it from the same vantage point.
I promise to be better about my weekly image from here on in! I took this picture on Tuesday evening; Rochester & I took a quick walk down to the barn. I love the moon in the image.
I actually took this picture on September 5, but we're leaving early in the morning for a music festival in Remus, Michigan (near where I grew up, and VERY close to where my daddy was born, & where my Uncle Bob, the only remaining sibling, still lives on the farm), so I want to get it posted now. This shot is taken on my way down to Case; the previous image was taken on the way back, so from the other side. We'll see many sides of Rapunzel's tower for the next year! I also found the poem I was looking for, so I'll post that soon. And I found my journal from the vacation we trip we took in September 2001. The one that started on 9/12/01. I'll post that tomorrow as well. Peace to all.
